Lois Adele Baber

SARASOTA, FL

Lois Adele Baber, 95, passed away on November 20, 2025 at the Pines of Sarasota, FL.

She was born on April 30 th, 1930 in Chicago, Ill where she attended Austin High School and Roosevelt University, and Bethel Lutheran Church, where she met her future husband, Wilfred Bill Baber. They married on April 30, 1949 and soon moved to Oak Park, Ill, where they lived for 14 years. It was here where they raised their three sons; Richard, James, and David. In 1966, the family moved to Madison, CT where Bill worked for Time, Inc and Lois at the Guilford Savings Bank. They retired to Port St. Lucie, FL in 1981. Sadly, Bill passed away in 1997.

Lois lived a very full and active life. She was a gifted singer and sang in many choirs and choral groups, including Hartford's Cappella Cantorum where she sang the alto solo at their annual Messiah Sing. She loved theater and always had season tickets at several theaters. She was also an expert crafter, belonging to a couple of crafting groups, and always looked forward to playing cards and mah jong. She was a very social person and loved get-togethers with her many friends and family. She loved reading, Broadway musicals, gin and tonics, and the art of gab.

Lois is survived by her three sons, Richard (Kathleen) of Manchester, CT, James (Karen) of Willimantic, CT, and David (Kate) 0f Sarasota, FL. And six grandchildren, Elisabeth (Randall) Prose, and Julie Hoagland, both of Willimantic, Alex Baber of Austin, TX, Max Baber of Ithica, NY, and Matt (Milena) Baber and Scott (Nikki) Baber of St Petersberg, FL. And six great-grandchildren, Tom (Kate) Martin of Willimantic, Nick (Emily) Martin of Currie, NC, Travis (Gianna) Shashok of North Haven, CT, and Noah, Katja, and Nico Baber, all from St. Petersberg. And three great-great-grandchildren, Kensley of Currie, NC and Nathan and Sammy Martin of Willimantic.

Lois was a loving and joyful presence in the lives of her family and she will be greatly missed.

A memorial service is planned for the Spring at First Church in Glastonbury.
