Roger Ings Obituary

SALEM

Roger Franklin Ings, age 68, beloved father, grandfather, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, tragically passed away in a car accident on May 14, 2024. Roger was born on November 27, 1955 in Derby,

Connecticut, to the late Maggie (Gattison) and Rogie Ings. Roger spent his youth living in Ansonia and carried a great love in his heart for the Valley.

First and foremost, in life, Roger was a devoted family man. Nothing was more important to him than his children and his grandchildren. Roger leaves behind his four children: Camika Higgins (Liam), Aiysha Ings (Marcus), Paxton Ings (Cassandra) and Sierra Ings. Rogers pride and joy were his two granddaughters, Rayne and Arabella. They will miss their Foo Daddy terribly. He also leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Robin Beaudry Ings. Roger was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Linda Beaudry and he leaves behind his good friend and his father-in-law, Bob Beaudry.

Roger was predeceased by his sister, Gerline Piper and leaves behind siblings, Robin Ings, Ellis Ings, David Ings and Kevin Maher. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, who were all very important and who he loved dearly.

Roger is a 1974 graduate of Ansonia High School, where he was a football standout and led both the football team and the baseball team to many victories. Roger later played football at the University of Connecticut where he graduated with 2 degrees. Roger went on to work for the State of Connecticut DDS for over 25 years. His big heart and gentle nature made him great at his job and he was loved by all he worked with and those he served.

Roger will be remembered mostly by his kindness and his bright smile, but also by his willingness to always help, no matter the situation. He would often be found on a field coaching one of his kids, giving one of our bonus kids a ride home from practice or just cheering in the stands.

And believe us all, if Roger was in the stands, EVERYBODY knew it.

Roger had many friends and teammates who have all touched him and who he loved, but he now has a small network of close friends who are considered brothers and you all know who you are!!

Roger brought so much joy and happiness into this world. Please join us to celebrate his Life on May 22, 2024 at The First Congregational Church, 199 Valley Street, Willimantic, Connecticut. Services will be from 11:00 to 1:00. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Roger's children to help with the unexpected costs of this tragedy, in care of his son, Paxton Ings.

My sincere condolences to the entire Ing´s family. You have been on my mind since receiving an email from Roger´s UConn teammates. My first meeting with Roger was the Naugatuck/ Ansonia Thanksgiving game in 1971. He later became a good friend and great teammate at UCONN.
