Timothy McClure Obituary

On Nov. 28, 2025, Timothy Calvin McClure took off his tired, worn-out earthly body and put on his indestructible, forever heavenly body in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Tim was born in Rabun County, Ga., Feb. 28, 1945, to Mertice Burrell and Larry McClure, Sr. He was the much spoiled youngest of seven siblings, five boys and two girls. He was born with the gift of gab and never met a stranger. Tim had a big heart and he used it to spread mischief, happiness and an enormous amount of love.
Tim loved his family, his wife of 61 years, Toni Bryson McClure, his dearly loved daughter Casey McClure Kissel and granddaughters Grace and Anabel Kissel, who he adored and was so proud of.
He loved the Lord. He was a member of Clayton Baptist Church, where he was a past deacon, used his beautiful bass voice to praise the Lord in the choir, and also served on Mission teams to Haiti.
Tim loved his country and proudly served in the U.S. Army stateside and overseas along the DMZ between North and South Korea.
He loved Rabun County. He attended Rabun County High School, where he made many life-long friends, and where he played football and basketball all four years under the much feared and respected coach Frank Snyder. It was in high school that he met the love of his life and his future bride, Toni. They married in 1964 and moved to the "big city" for career opportunities.
Tim worked for 40 years with several Atlanta construction companies, where he detailed the reinforcing steel and post-tension cable for high-rise concrete buildings.
His handprint is on numerous buildings throughout Atlanta, New Orleans, and all over the Southeast. But as soon as he retired, Tim headed back to the mountains he loved and settled in the Persimmon community.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Mertice and Larry McClure; by four brothers, Larry McClure, Parker McClure, Thomas McClure and Bill McClure, and by his infant daughter Katherine Anice. He is survived by his wife Toni, daughter Casey, granddaughters Grace and Anabel, his favorite sister Katherine Long and sister Shelby Gragg, and by too many nieces and nephews to fit on the page.
Services will be held at Clayton Baptist Church on Dec. 6, 2025. Visitation with the family will begin at 11 a.m. and the service will be at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations that donations be made to either the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675; or the Rabun County Athletic Booster Club, P.O. Box 1873, Clayton, GA 30525.
