Betty Joyce Barber

1934 - 2025

Betty Joyce Barber passed away on November 15, 2025. Betty was born September 13, 1934, in Scott County, MS, to Marie and William Kelly Barber. She lived in Jackson, MS prior to moving to Clinton, MS in 2001. Betty retired from Deposit Guaranty National Bank (now Regions) after 44 years.

Betty graduated from Clinton High School and attended Draughn Business College. She dedicated her life to family and serving others. Betty volunteered with the international exhibits in Jackson, held various positions with the First Ladies Civitan Club of Jackson and the District Civitan, while volunteering with MARL she enjoyed taking dogs to PetSmart for (hopeful) adoption, at CMMC Hospital she took the hospitality cart with drinks and magazines to the patients' room for the patients and their guests. She last volunteered at Quisenberry Library in Clinton. She enjoyed traveling in the RV, with her brother & sister-in-law.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bill Barber Jr., niece Lisa Marie Barber, sister Frances Lovell and her husband Odus Lovell.

Survivors include nieces Betty Michele Swedenburg (Mark), Kelley Barber, sister-in-law Gayle Barber Simmons (Billy), nephew Joe Lovell (Elizabeth), great nieces & nephews Dexter Parten (Sarah), Brittney Parten, Tyler Crapps (Paige), Carol Barber, Harley Acy, Trey Stevensen (Danielle), Kerri Lovell, Logan Lovell, Darin Matherne (Monique), Ashlyn Matherne and Derek Matherne and numerous other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Batson Children's Hospital or the charity of your choice.

A memorial gathering will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home, located at 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, Mississippi, 39209. The gathering is scheduled for November 29, 2025, at 11:00 am.
