Dennis Shaffer Obituary

Dennis John Shaffer, age 52, of Reynoldsville, Pa., passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
He was born on December 27, 1965, in DuBois, Pa.
Dennis attended the DuBois High School and graduated from Jeff Tech with the class of 1984. He then continued his studies, graduating from Clarion University with a degree in geology. During college he worked for Fike Associates Inc. He stayed with Fike after his graduation and when the opportunity arose he became co-owner of the company.
On May 3, 2003, he married Cindy (Schuckers) Shaffer in Reynoldsville, Pa., and together they would attend the Reynoldsville Presbyterian Church; Cindy survives him.
Dennis was a past Worshipful Master for the John M. Reed Lodge No. 536 in Reynoldsville, Pa. He enjoyed his membership at the Elks Lodge No. 519 in Reynoldsville where he was a Past District Deputy and Past Exalted Ruler and was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, No. 540, in Reynoldsville, Pa. For many years, Dennis was a member of the boards for both the Reynoldsville Pool and for Reynlow Park.
He enjoyed the outdoors performing activities such as fly-fishing, with his favorite places to fish being on the White River in Arkansas and the First Fork Creek in Sinnemahoning. He also liked hunting and bird-dogging. Dennis enjoyed going to ""Camp 64"" on the weekends. He was a very handy person who could fix just about anything. He liked building all kinds of things for the benefit of his friends and family including home additions, toys, treehouses, and much more. He also liked golfing and spending time with his friends and family. He would rather have a staycation with his family than go on a vacation. He loved the Pittsburgh Penguins, Penn State football and hockey, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Dennis was able to make positive and lasting memories with his family and friends throughout his whole life. They will all miss him dearly.
In addition to his wife Cindy, Dennis is survived by his father, Dennis L. Shaffer and his wife Janet; his mother, Carol (Matusky) Mohney, and her husband Edward; five daughters, Brittny (Chris DeMotte) Shaffer, Bethany Shaffer, Meghan (fiancé Troy Braddock) Shaffer, Kacie (David) Rozas, Arden (fiancé Jesse Lockitski) Emery; two brothers, Mark Shaffer, Jason (Samantha) Shaffer; step-brother, Edward Mohney Jr.; four granddaughters, Havanna Murone, Hadley DeMotte, Vaelyn DeMotte, Charlette DeMotte; one grandson, born the same day as Dennis' passing, Clyde Rozas. He is also survived by his loving dog Belle.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, November 9, 2018, from 2 – 4 p.m., and 6 – 8 p.m., at the Snyder – d'Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main St., Reynoldsville, PA, 15851. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Smith Cemetery, Reynoldsville, Pa.
Memorial contributions can be made in his name to the Hahne Cancer Center.
