Louis Verne Obituary

Louis A. "Louie" Verne, 78, of Bond Street, Brockway, PA, died on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Highland View Health Care.

Born on June 17, 1946, in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Louie P. and Rose Gregorio Verne.

On October 14, 1967, he was married to Judy E. Orr and she survives.

Retired, Louie had been employed as a mould maker at Brockway Glass for 38 years. He was a member at the Presbyterian Church in Brockway. Soccer, soccer and more soccer was Louie's passion. He had the privilege of being the first head soccer coach at the Brockway High School. Louie also was certified as a soccer referee for the district. He also served as the president of the Brockway Midget Football League. Coaching and working with kids is what inspired Louie year after year after year. He served as a Cub Scout Master at Moorhead Church for many years. He was a member of the Brockway Handgunners, Inc. and the Blue Rock Settlers Muzzleloader Club. He also enjoyed family vacation camping trips.

In addition to his wife Judy, he is also survived by a daughter, Kim Verne of Brockway; a son, Scott (Karen) Verne of Sandy Lake, PA; a sister, Denise (John) Bowers of Erie, PA; a sister-in-law Diane (Gary) Gontero of Leola, PA; grandchildren Matthew Lindenmuth, Margo Lindenmuth, Michael Addison, Paisley Verne, Matthew Cushing, Joshua Cushing and Nicole Cushing. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Wilson.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 12 from 5-8 p.m. at the Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway and again on Thursday, March 13 at the Presbyterian Church in Brockway from 10-11 a.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m., with Pastors Dave and Emily Koehler officiating. Burial will follow in Beechwoods Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Presbyterian Church, 817 Main St., Brockway, PA 15824 or Brockway Ambulance Association, 1147 Cherry St., Brockway, PA 15824.
