Mary Godek Obituary

Mary "Mary K." Catherine Godek, 92, of Atlantic Avenue, DuBois, died Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Penn Highlands.

Born on April 15, 1933, in Sykesville, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Susan Nalepa Polifko.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Joseph Godek.

Mary K graduated high school in Sykesville, the class of 1951 and was a stay-at-home mom supporting her husband in their businesses while raising 4 daughters.

Mary K was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and a member of the Rosary Infant of Prague Society, serving as treasurer for many years. She volunteered at the DuBois Hospital and Gift Shop, Central Christian High School cafeteria, and DuBois Food Pantry. She perfected making pierogies and served as the lead pierogi maker at the St Michael's Polish Festival for many years.

Mary K was a role model for family and anyone who knew her. She loved her family and taught them how to live life to the fullest in faith, family, and love. She hosted our annual Christmas Eve dinner for the family at her house for over 60 years, with some years hosting 50 or more people. She always had gifts of food for her family, friends, and neighbors.

Mary K is survived by four daughters: Laurie (Ted) Fitzer of DuBois, PA, Susan Andreottola (Joe Beninati) of Stoneham, MA., Patty (Dave) Conyers of Sandston, VA., and Lisa (Cliff) Dixon of Beavercreek, OH; seven grandchildren: Michael (Renata) Andreottola, Chris Andreottola (Christina Banks) and Mark Andreottola (Cait Ferreira); Joanna (Mike) Krajcovic and Julie Fitzer; Andrew Dixon, Tyler Dixon and Tylor Lightcap; three great-grandchildren: Giovanni Andreottola and Aubrey Ferriera, and Baby Krajcovic (on the way). She is also survived by one sister, Helen Marie Lantz of Texas.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings: John (Bucky) Polifko, Martha Stuck, Dorothy Toretti, and Mike Polifko.

Visitation will be held for Mary K on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 2-5 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

The rosary will be prayed Sunday at 1:15 p.m. from the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 10 a.m. from Holy Spirit Parish at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, with Father John Malthaner as celebrant.

Burial will take place in St. Michael Cemetery.

Mary K's family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105, Gateway Humane Society, PO Box 678, Falls Creek, PA 15840, or a charity of your choice.

November 4, 2025

From Tom Parulski ( St. Michael Terrace ) 6:11 A.M. Tue Nov. 4th .
Just found out in email, that I just read, from my sister Patty .
I study and computer program , starting my days , at 2 A.M.
There are tears , coming from my soul , right now .

But , " I know there'll be no more Tears in heaven " .
Then the light begins to shine,
And I hear those ancient lullabies
... as I watch this seedling grow,
Feel my heart start to overflow .
Where do I find the words to say?
How do I teach ...?
What do we play?
"No Tears in Heaven" / "My Father's Eyes"

Sending Thanks and Love .
