Mary E. Kalgren

1933 - 2023

Mary E. Kalgren passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 15, 2023 at 2:10 p.m. at the age of 90 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

Born January 8, 1933, she was the daughter of the late James Wesley and Margaret (Huntington) Burns.

She married the love of her life, William L. Kalgren, on September 28, 1952. He passed away on April 28, 1994. She was lucky enough to find love again with a wonderful man, Chester Kear, for 22 years until her passing.

Mary graduated from Sandy High School on May 27, 1952. After her marriage, she made her lifelong home in Sabula, PA with her husband and children.

Mary and William had four children who survive, William T. Kalgren and his wife, Inga Reynolds Kalgren, of Florida, Cheryl Kalgren Kramer and her husband, William J. Kramer, of Brookville, PA, Nancy Kalgren Heffner and her husband, Richard Heffner, of DuBois, PA, and Wesley James Kalgren and his wife, Tammy Bernardo Kalgren, of Sabula, PA. Additionally, Mary is survived by six grandchildren, Chad Kalgren of Florida, Tanya Kramer McCandless of Brookville, Joseph Edward Kramer of Brookville, William John (Dana) Kramer of Brookville, Angela Heffner of State College, and Tina Heffner LaRock of Clearfield; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, and two siblings, James Burns of Sabula and Phyllis Campbell of DuBois.

In addition to her parents and first husband, Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Burns of DuBois, and an infant sister, Arvilla Mae (1934).

Friends and family will be received Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 1-3 p.m. from the Adamson Funeral Chapel & Crematorium. Immediately following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. from the funeral chapel with Pastor Butch Brunner officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery beside her husband, William.
