Michael Trunzo Obituary

Michael Allan Trunzo, 69, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, after a short, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Surviving at home is his wife of 43 years, Susan Perry Trunzo, whom he married Oct. 12, 1973. He is also survived by his four children: Scott Trunzo (Denise Lias), Steven Trunzo of Middletown, and Mandy Trunzo Jadush (Jesse Jadush) of McAdoo, and Francesca (his Yorkie and favorite child); four grandchildren: Caitlynn Schmidt Hahn (Tyler Hahn), Ryan Schmidt, Madison Trunzo and Jacob Jadush.
Born Aug. 20, 1947, he was the only child of the late Elizabeth (Betty) Trunzo. Michael lived all his life in Brockway, Pa.
He was a graduate of Brockway Area High School class of '65 and Erie Business School class of '67. He worked at Brockway Pressed Metals for 32 years, Brockway Glass for a year, A. Cook Associates, Inc., for two years, and finished his career at the Area Transportation Authority (ATA) in Johnsonburg, Pa., with 15 years as the Director of Information Services & Technology.
Michael loved to work with the youth; he was a third degree black belt in Isshinryu Karate, had a Karate school and was instrumental in teaching the art of self defense to many students over a period of 15 years. He also worked with the Girl Scouts and chaperoned many great Girl Scout camp outings and adventures. He was an inspirational NRA Certified Instructor in pistol and rifle and with this certification he taught Girl Scouts and young women the necessary skills to safely operate a firearm while also serving as an Range Safety Officer at some of the local shooting clubs. He was also involved in teaching country line dancing and participated in numerous worthy fund raisers.
He was an avid hobbyist and pursued every new hobby with gusto and the most up to date, state of the art equipment. Over the years, he dabbled in everything from archery, photography, fly tying, geocaching, gardening, to learning to play the Native American flute and was an enthusiastic ammo re-loader. He loved to involve his beloved family and friends in his favorite pastimes and including them in hunting, fishing and target shooting while enjoying the great outdoors.
Michael was a member of Tri-County Church and under the direction of Steve Weber, Mike and Sue helped in training life groups along with other fun activities. He was a member of the Garfield Lodge NO. 559 Free Accepted Masons in DuBois, Pa.
Mike was a wonderful, caring and kind person with the heart of a giant. In dying, he taught us how to be strong, brave, dignified, and he exhibited such a will to live in such dire circumstances.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at 10 a.m. with service at 11 a.m. at Tri County Church, 1881 Old 255 Rd, DuBois, PA 15801.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Penn Highlands DuBois Home Health/ Hospice Service in memory of Mike Trunzo.
The Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be left at csfhinc.com.

When I returned home from Vietnam, Mike and I developed a great friendship where we made many memories and good times. As the years progressed, we somehow (through different life challenges) lost close contact with each other.
I regret those years that we missed together, but will always cherish the times we had together. RIP dear friend.

Sue, I am so sorry he hear of Mike's passing. I had no idea he was sick and feel terrible that we have lost so much contact through the years. I know he is in the best place he can be now and I know it will be very hard for you and your family to adjust to his loss, but just hold fast to your faith and know that the day will come when all will be united again. I am sorry for your loss. I knew him for only a few years since I met him at ATA working on the UPS system in the computer room. We talked every time even if for a short while. He was a real good guy and even though I only talked with him once every 6 months he will be missed. I'm sure it will feel empty when I show up and he doesn't greet me. I've been doing this 34 years and he is one of the reasons I keep doing field service because of the friends I make like him.
