Richard A. "Pap" Baxter, 83, a former Brockport, PA resident currently a resident at Highland View Health Care in Brockway, died on Wednesday April 7, 2021.
Born on January 11, 1938, in Butte, Montana, he was the son of the late John and Rose Roberts McKinney.
On September 26, 1959, he was married to Elsie Swinton and she preceded him in death on November 30, 2008.
Retired, Pap had been employed over the years at Modern Dairy as a milkman, at Paris Cleaners and at the Silver Bullet Cab Company as a taxi driver. He was a member at the Lighthouse Community Church in Brockway. Pap had served as the past president of the Groundhog CB Club in Big Run. He never missed an opportunity to attend one of his grandkids sporting events, and was an avid Pirate, Steeler and Penguin fan. He also enjoyed collecting baseball cards.
He is survived by two daughters, Rosalie "Lynn" (Terry) Crawford of Brockway; Vicki (Corey) Jacobs of Myrtle Beach, SC; a son, Timothy (Karen) Baxter of Brockport; a brother, Rev. Dr. Victor (Barbara) Baxter, also of Brockport, and a sister, Agnes Hoover of Brockway. He is also survived by six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who were the joy of his life.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. Social distancing protocols will be in place and masks are required. A private funeral service will be held with Rev. Dr. Victor Baxter officiating. Burial will follow in the Beechtree Cemetery.
