Ruth Engle Obituary
Ruth was born on October 13, 1920, to the late Thomas Meade and Mary Ethel (Morrison) Leach in Rathmel, PA.
Ruth married Robert Harold Engle on December 25, 1940, in Reynoldsville, PA; Robert preceded her in passing January 1987.
She was a member of the Emporium Presbyterian Church, where she would teach Sunday School. She also was a member of the Board of Deacons and Boards of Elders. Ruth moved to Emporium in 1947 and resided there for 64 years until she relocated to Emerickville in 2012. Ruth worked for the Cameron County High School in the cafeteria for 23 years. She was a cub scout leader and a girl scout leader.
Ruth is survived by one daughter, Myrna Ruth Haines; one son, Thomas (Shirley) Robert Engle; five grandchildren: Brad (Janet) Haines; Lon "Rob" (Kelly) Haines; Leo (Rebecca Ishmael) Engle; Jimmy (Kim) Engle; Sheila (Brian) Engle Easley; one grandson-in-law, John Barr; and numerous great-grandchildren: Kimberly; Samantha; Piper; Colbie; Alex; Katelynn; Kurtis and; Kameron.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in passing by brother, Robert Leach; sister, Joann Tatters and her husband, William Tatters; granddaughter, Lisa Barr; and son-in-law, John Haines.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. at the Snyder – d'Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851. A funeral service will take place immediately following the viewing, beginning at 4 p.m. Interment will take place at Smith Cemetery, Reynoldsville, Jefferson Co., PA.

Aunt Ruth set a beautiful example of how wonderful life can be lived. This is a life to be celebrated.
She has left behind loving memories for many people who had the pleasure of knowing her. I count myself as blessed to have had her as my Aunt. My sympathy to her family.
