Brenda Kay Baldauf (Kilgore), 84, of Greenfield, formerly of Wilkinson, peacefully passed away on Wednesday morning, November 19, 2025, at the Greenfield Healthcare Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Brenda was born on April 24, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Charles Tecumseh Kilgore and Pauline Winifred (Knox) Kilgore.
A dedicated educator, Brenda spent many years teaching in various schools across Indiana, including Indianapolis Public Schools, Knightstown, Mooresville, and Decatur Township. She retired after many fulfilling years in the classroom, leaving behind a legacy of passion for teaching. Brenda was a proud member of the Indiana Teachers Association and a lifelong learner herself, having graduated from Carmel High School in 1959 and from Butler University where she earned her Bachelor's degree, "Go Bulldogs"! She later achieved her Master's degree from Ball State University.
Brenda was a devoted mother and grandmother, whose family meant the world to her. She will be deeply missed by her daughters: Angela (Dwayne) Tarter of Knightstown, Holly Lynn (Kevin) Helderbrand of Knightstown, Debra (Tom) Porter of Bargersville, Heather Smith of Greenfield, Carrie (Ricky) Hart of Greenfield, Serenity Baldauf (Dan Hanley) of Plainfield; her step-daughter Margaret Bolen of Angola, IN; her step-son Larry Baldauf Jr. of Indianapolis; and her sister, Edith Nichols of Indianapolis. She was the proud grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who all brought her immense joy.
Brenda was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Charles K. "Buzzy" Kilgore, who passed away in 1988.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Greenfield Christian Church, 23 N. East Street, Greenfield, with Reverend Maggie Mae Archibald officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the church.
Brenda's kindness, her dedication to her family, and her love of teaching will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a lasting impact on the hearts of her loved ones and the many lives she touched throughout her years.
