Delbert Lee Adkins, 70, went to live in his Heavenly home on Friday, May 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Delbert was the son of the late William "Bill" and Lanie (Ferguson) Adkins.
He and his wife, Pamela (Denney) Adkins were married 1972 and raised their three girls in Delbert's childhood home in the Mooreland, Indiana, area.
Delbert was a simple man who loved his Lord and his family. He was a mentor to many of his daughter's friends, teaching them how to take care of everyday things. Delbert loved his church, Northside Church of God, and attended regularly until he became sick.
Delbert leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Pamela (Denney) Adkins, and their three daughters, Linda (Chan) Roberts, Melissa (Eric) Jones, and Elizabeth "Tweety" Hibbard. The joy of his life, his grandkids, Chandler Roberts II, Jacob Jones, His "Big Gil" Lacie Hibbard, and Arron Jones; his great-grandkids, Maverick King Roberts and River Jackson Roberts; his in-laws, Larry and Nettie Stroud, his "Best Buddy" and brother-in-law, Nathan Brewington Jr., and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, along with many nieces and nephews.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lanie Adkins; his "sweet-pea" and great-granddaughter, Saferiah Kay Roberts; his sister, Delpha Brewington; his father-in-law, Clyde Denney; his sister-in-law, Ellen Walker, and many other family and friends. What a reunion that will be!
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Sproles Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Phil Brown and Rev. Nathan Brewington Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Mooreland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be offered to the American Diabetes Foundation, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Henry County K-9 Foundation, or Henry Community Health Hospice, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
