James Archie Davis, 75, of New Castle went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 31, 2025 at his residence. He was born September 20, 1950 in New Castle to the late Oliver and Geneva (Allen) Davis.
James was a 1969 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War. James worked for Chrysler Corporation and retired after 30 years of service. James enjoyed traveling, camping, boating and going to the casino. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and DAV and formerly attended Calvary Baptist Church. James greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Those left to cherish James's memory include a daughter, Cindy (Steve) Upchurch of Pendleton; his former wife, Mary Dehart of New Castle; grandchildren, Caleb (Stevie) Upchurch of Indianapolis, Michaela (Amber) Main of Yorktown and Noah Upchurch of Pendleton; step-children Jeff (Charity) Riddell of Muncie and Becky (Scott) Babb of Russiaville; great-granddaughter, Hazel Maxine Upchurch; step grandchildren, Leticia Wallace, Taylor Stonecipher, Erica Babb, Jarrod Daffron and Kayleigh Rowe; several step great-grandchildren; brother Donnie (Candy) Davis of Mooreland; sister-in-law, Sylvia Davis of Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Groce) Davis; brother, Ronnie Davis and sister, Patricia Davis.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Military rites will be conducted by contingents of the US Army, American Legion and the VFW. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Condolences and memories of James may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com.

James, you were a dear friend. We went to Boy Scouts together and camping grew up in Sunnyside. You went with me to New York to make wooden signs at christening . I´ll miss you dearly. Rest in peace God be with you.
