Jean Ann Clevenger, 84, of Losantville, died Friday, November 21, 2025, at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center, New Castle.
Jean Ann was born in Anderson on June 11, 1941, the fourth of five children to Kenneth and Geneva (Davis) Cox. Before graduating from Daleville High School, she was employed as a bookkeeper for Ballard Hardware in Muncie. She married Farris Reeder in 1961. As their farm expanded, Jean Ann did the accounting amongst many other roles, and they had three children. Reeder Brothers Farms became a multi-state, integrated and diversified crop and livestock enterprise, later adding residential real estate. Jean Ann and Farris enjoyed traveling for both business and family trips, as well as frequent family outings for movies at the Rivoli.
With Farris's sudden death in 1978, Jean Ann took on sole management of their Reeder Brothers properties and operations.
Jean Ann then wed Jim Clevenger. In 1981, they happily welcomed another daughter into their combined family, which has so enjoyed being a part of the larger Clevenger family.
She continued alone, working an acre-plus of tomatoes for the homestead's Highway 35 stand. For over forty years, Jean Ann continued to manage rental houses, and was known to be a charitable landlady. She lived at the family farm for nearly fifty years.
She was active in the Delaware County Home Economics Club for over sixty years, serving as president and known for annually gathering donations for those in need and scholarship fundraising, and hosting "Christmas in June" gatherings. She was also a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
Jean Ann never knew a stranger. Her kindness, smile, and sweet, giving nature were well known. She never let a guest leave hungry, often baked specially for others, and was forever donating to another worthy cause. And a full supper would be on the table, her family always knew, well before 7:30 PM, "Jeopardy" time!
She enjoyed opportunities to see new sights, her daily thorough newspaper reading at the kitchen picture window, collecting, and artwork, including drawing with grandchildren. She especially enjoyed hugs with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Overall, Jean Ann was a devoted wife and tireless supporter of her children, and then grandchildren, in any way possible.
She is survived by four children, Scott Reeder (Shelly Garrett) of Losantville, Trent Reeder of Muncie, Polly Reeder (John Barden) of Guilford, CT, and Jama Schneider (fiancé Jim King) of Greensburg; six grandchildren, Scott Reeder, Jr., Chantal Sherfy, Carson Reeder, Everett Barden, Owen Barden, and Jaxton Schneider; eight great-grandchildren; and many loving family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Jean Ann was preceded in death by her first husband, Farris Reeder; her second husband, Jim Clevenger; and siblings, Ronald Cox, Shirley Brundage, Carolyn ZeBelle, and Connie Snyder.
Visitation will be 1 to 3 PM on Saturday, November 29, at Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Services will follow at 3 PM.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, tribute contributions be made in Jean Ann's name to the Alzheimer's Association. Please share a memory at www. culbersonfh.com.
