Lola Agnes Goldy, 101, of New Castle, passed away early on the morning of Friday, September 19, 2025, at her daughter's home in Greenfield.
She was born on January 14, 1924, in Dandridge, Tennessee, the only child of the late Sebern Randolph and Lola Mae (Thomas) Goforth.
Lola graduated from Nashville Business College and was a PBX operator at the Henry County Clinic in the 1940s. She married Russell Goldy in 1953, and they were married for 58 years until his passing in 2012. She and Russell owned several farms in Indiana and Kentucky, rental homes, and even a grocery store. They also built new homes, with Lola serving as the business manager of their business. In recent years, Lola enjoyed keeping her mind active with Sudoku puzzles, playing Scrabble, and keeping her checkbook down to the penny. She loved bird watching, especially hummingbirds, on the farm.
Those left to cherish Goldy's memory include her daughter, Elizabeth (Robert) Slunaker of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Greg (Rebecca) Slunaker of Hemet, CA, Travis (Lynette) Slunaker of Tustin, CA, Robert (Julie) Slunaker Jr. of Romney, IN, and Shannon (Greg) Hall of Greenfield; 12 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Russell L. Goldy; a foster brother, Stephen Hibbard, and several special aunts and uncles, Malona Thomas, Decauter Thomas, Walter Thomas, and Luther Thomas.
