Madonna L. Fletcher, age 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior (hallelujah) Jesus Christ on Friday, November 19, 2021. Donna was born on April 4, 1933, a daughter of Ernest and Myra Darby.
Donna grew up in Mooreland and was a long-time resident of New Castle, Indiana. She worked in the OB Department at Henry County Memorial Hospital, the New Castle State Hospital, Welliver's Smorgasbord in Hagerstown, and worked as a loving caregiver of the elderly in New Castle and surrounding area. She married the late Thomas William Fletcher on October 6, 1963. Together they raised a blended family of 13 children. Madonna enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, singing gospel music, gardening (flowers), and sitting on her deck watching the birds. She loved to watch Dr. Phil (not approved by all, Ha! Ha!) and Everybody Loves Raymond with Tom beside her.
Donna was a proud member of Kennard Baptist Church with Pastor Brent Weaver and his wife, Angie who were very special friends to all her family. She was very thankful for her church family and the love they've shown for all.
Tom and Donna were the proud parents (most of the time) to the surviving children, Sue Fisher, Terry Parks (wife, Helen), Vicki Williams, Carol Simerly (husband, Mark), Kim Parks (wife, Virginia), Sandy Boles (husband, Terry "Pete"), Barbara Morgan, Fred Fletcher (wife, Tina), Lisa Bowling (husband, Ken), Julie Evans (husband, Tracey), and Joy Fletcher; They were truly blessed with 35 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren – what a blessing the Lord has given them.
She was preceded in death by children, Candis Parks and David Fletcher; siblings, Eileen Zakis, Ivan Darby, Eugene Darby and Junior Darby (Darb).
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Macer-Hall-Marcum Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad St., New Castle with Pastor Brent Weaver officiating.
