Patrick A McAlister, 76, of Mt. Summit, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024. He was born in Muncie, IN on January 24, 1948 to the late W. Allphin and Rachel (Walters) McAlister.
A 1966 graduate of Blue River Valley High School, Patrick resided most of his life in Mt. Summit. He was drafted by the U.S. Army and served in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict. He graduated from Sam's Institute of Technology in St. Louis and became an electrical engineer. He retired from Henry County REMC in 2007, following over 35 years of service, where he served as linemen, foreman, and Operations Manager at the time of his retirement.
An avid golfer, Patrick enjoyed woodworking and made gorgeous furniture for his family and friends. He was always willing to help and was a kind and good-hearted man. There was no project that he could not accomplish.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his companion of 47 years, Risa Jones of Mt. Summit; one daughter, Trisha (Shane) Newton of Black Mountain, NC; a sister, Mary L. (Bob) Rose of Anderson; a brother, Michael B. (Michele) McAlister of Mt. Summit; two grandchildren, Serena Thurston of Raleigh, NC, and Ethan Thurston of Boone, NC; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W. Allphin McAlister and Rachel L. (Walters) McAlister Sparks; three siblings, W. Allphin McAlister Jr., Gayle McAlister, and Richard W. McAlister.
At Patrick's request, there will be no visitation or services.
Rest in Peace, sweet Patrick. Your family will love you forever and always.
