Tena J. Palmer, 69, of New Castle, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born March 14, 1956, in New Castle, to the late Carl and Mary Alice (Mettert) Wilson.
She was a 1975 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. Tena work in several restaurants over the years as a waitress. She had worked at Brooks Foods, and the Port Hole. She also managed Main and Frame Ambulance service and was distribution manager at The Courier Times. She was a member of Word of God Community Chapel, where she served as treasurer.
A Girl Scout leader for many years, she also was a special deputy with the Henry County Sheriffs Dept., cooked for the Sheriffs Youth Camp, was a member of the Henry County Sheriffs Dept. Honor Guard and Henry County Search and Rescue.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, William "Bill" Palmer of New Castle; son, Chris (Sarah) Kirby of Anderson; daughter, Mary Palmer (Andrew Meyer) of New Castle; grandchildren, Amaya Kirby, Silas Kirby, Aiden Hawkins, Loki Meek and Gage Meyer; sister, Saundra (Chris) Bryant of Tulsa, OK, sister in-law Peggy Stone of New Castle; nieces and nephews, Travis Bryant and Crystal Bryant, Brian Stone and Melissa Martin.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Donnie Stone.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Jim Sons and Adrian Darling officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14 at the funeral home.
