Vada E. Collins, age 90, of Mount Summit, passed away on April 24, 2024, at Henry County Community Health. Born on April 10, 1934, in Farmers, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late James Ernest and Mary Oak (Atchison) Moody.
Vada was a diehard Kentucky Wildcat basketball and devoted NASCAR Jeff Gordon fan. Her greatest joy came from her children and grandchildren, whose company always brought a smile to her face. She dedicated several years to managing the concession stand for the Blue River Optimist Little League alongside her husband, Marvin and they cherished every moment of their involvement. After 31 and a half years of service, Vada retired from Brooks Foods in Mount Summit. Despite facing blindness five years ago, she maintained an unwaveringly positive attitude, never once complaining.
Vada is survived by her children, Mike (Cindy) Collins of Kokomo and Kevin (Roxanne) Collins of Springport; grandchildren, Jason Collins, Jeremy (Michelle) Collins, Cory (Kami) Collins, Bethany Vannatta, Kaylee (Jess) Vannatta, Kevin (Jennifer) Collins II, Whitney (fiancé: Branden) Collins, Chase (significant other: Michelle) Collins; 24 great grandchildren; sister, Grace Thompson of Sebring, FL; son-in-law, Jerry Vannatta.
In addition to her parents, Vada was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Collins on 02/19/2008; daughter, Kathy Collins-Vannetta on 05/04/2019; brother, Orel Moody; sister, Edith Moody Moore.
