Wesley D. "Wes" Cumins, 88, of Shirley, was called home to be with our Lord, on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson. He was born on May 15, 1936 in Fort Recovery, Ohio and was the son of the late Forrest Wesley and Florence Ada (Youmans) Cumins.
Wes was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps, where he was stationed at Camp Pendleton along with the Indiana National Guard. He retired from Delco-Remy in Anderson where he worked in skilled trades for over 40 years. Wes was a faithful member of the South Memorial Drive Church of God, where he worked in the food pantry, visited shut-ins and attended the men's prayer group.
Wes was known for his ever-present smile and was affectionally referred to as "Babe." His hobbies included gardening, watching college basketball, and tinkering in his barn. Wes especially loved his family and would do anything for them.
Wes is survived by his wife of 63 years, Isabelle, whom he married July 1, 1961; three children, Robin (Frank) Bianchi of Cypress, Texas, Claudia (Chris) Garner of Spiceland, and John Wesley Cumins of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Jessica (Austin) Kosley, Francesca (Devin) Conerly, Jack (Chelsea) Garner and Luke Garner; great-grandchildren, Colt Wesley, Eden Grace, Baby Conerly due in October, and Baby Garner due in January, 2025; a sister, Kate (George) Gominger of Perrysburg, OH; Brother, Ken (Linda) Cumins of Roanoke, VA and his beloved dog, Cali.
In addition to his parents, Wes was preceded in death by his brother, Don Cumins.
