Johnny Lynn Reid, 80, of Searcy passed from this life on Sept. 22, 2022, at his home. He was born on May 14, 1942, in Newport, Ark., to the late Neal and John Reid.
He married the love of his life, Faye (Baty) Reid, on Dec. 10, 1971. After the two married, they moved to Searcy, where they loved and raised three beautiful daughters, Shawn, Deanna and Cindy. Johnny worked 37 years for Coca-Cola in Searcy, and retired in 2001 due to the closing of the Searcy company. He then worked for First Security Bank from 2002 to 2022, where he then retired after 20 years of working. On Sept. 1, 1957, Johnny confessed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at Watson Lake. He and his wife, Faye, became members of the West Race Baptist Church in Searcy in 1972. Johnny was a great husband, father and grandfather. He had many friends and never met a stranger … he was loved by all. He will forever be remembered for his smile and his jokes.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 50 years, Faye Reid of Searcy; three beautiful daughters, Shawn Reid (Mary) of Floral, Deanna Abernathy of Searcy and Cindy Leah Abernathy of North Little Rock; two grandchildren, who he loved so much, Josh Reid of Searcy and Landon Cook of North Little Rock; brother, Dickey Reid (Peggy) of Newport; and sister-in-law, Sue Ann Fletcher of Knoxville, Tenn. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Billy Fletcher.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022, at 2:30 p.m., at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Searcy, with Bro. Bill Lyons officiating. Visitation preceded the service; beginning at 1:30 p.m. Interment followed in the Watson Cemetery in Newport.
