ANNA MARTINEZ Obituary

Anna M. (Custodio) Martinez, 71, of Vineland passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center in her typical fashion, surrounded by her loving family as God took her to his beautiful eternal home.

Anna was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, to the late Leopoldo and Margarita (Gonzalez) Custodio, and lived in Vineland since 1954. Anna retired from the Vineland Developmental Center, and also worked for Farm Workers Corp. of Vineland. She was a member of Fuente de Vida Church of Vineland. Anna attended Salem County College and Cumberland County College and received her degree in child care. Anna was an avid traveler, and one of her passions was cooking for family and friends.

Anna was predeceased by her grandson, Tyler Martinez; brothers, Enrique, Antonio, Alejandro and Felix Custodio; and sisters, Trifina Cortez and Zaida Rodriguez.

Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, John J. Martinez of Vineland; three daughters, Lillian Cordero (Francisco) of Bronx, N.Y., Doris Martinez (Dino) of Ventnor and Marivel Martinez (Jorge) of Vineland; two sons, John Martinez (Miki) of Davie, Fla., and David Martinez (Debbie) of Vineland; 10 grandchildren, John III, Brandon, Michael, Christian, Eric, Lilliana, Daniella, Angel, Magdalena and Matthew; three brothers, Cristobal Custodio (Susie) and Arcadio Custodio (Lidia), all of Puerto Rico, and Ivan Custodio of Vineland; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave., Vineland. Visitation hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service Friday. Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery in Vineland.
