Edwin Bergamo

Vineland - Edwin C. Bergamo, 93, of Vineland, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on September 26, 2018. Born on May 7, 1925, he lived a full life, mostly outdoors. From a young age, Edwin worked on the family farm, taking over fully in 1956, until his retirement in 1990. The farm legacy continues today with sons Edwin and Paul, along with several grandsons. A graduate of SHHS 1943, he was recognized by the Junior Chamber of Commerce as "Outstanding Young Farmer" in 1957. He was a longstanding member of the Vineland Produce Auction, SJ Produce Co-Operative Association in Vineland, the Landisville Fruit Growers Association and the Bobby Bee Gunning Club. He was an avid bowler and ruthless pinochle player. Edwin is survived by wife of 69 years, Anne T. (Quickmire) Bergamo; daughter, Anne Marie Bergamo; son & daughter-in-law, Charles & Phyllis Bergamo; daughter & son-in-law, Susanne Morello-Haight & Kevin; son & daughter-in-law, Edwin & Saralyn Bergamo; son & daughter-in-law, Paul & Tonia Bergamo; son-in-law, Joe Tobolski; 21grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister & brother-in-law, Joan & Edward Hurban and his sister, Elaine Cowan. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward & Anna (Berti) Bergamo; son, Michael Bergamo ; daughter, Marybeth Tobolski; son-in-law, John P. Morello; sisters & brothers-in-law, Viola & Arthur "Boots" Smaniotto and MaryAnn & William Dougherty; brother-in-law, James Cowan Sr., and his beloved cousin, Sgt. John "Jack" Bergamo. A special thank you to Rosa and Shamiera, along with his caregivers from Griswold Home Care, and nurse Sharon of Bayada Hospice. Funeral home visitations will be held on Tuesday evening from 7pm to 9pm and again on Wednesday morning from 9:45am to 10:45am at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ. A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 11:30 am from Saint Padre Pio Parish - Church Of St. Mary's, 736 Union Road, Vineland. Interment will follow in St Mary's Cemetery, Vineland.
