James R. Vena, 56, crossed over to the other shore from death to eternal life after battling with cancer. Greeting Jimmy on the heavenly side are his father, Andrew; mother, Jean; sister, Lois; brothers, Andrew, Karlo and Gene; and brother-in-law, Joe.
A 1974 VHS graduate, Jim loved his job as Workforce Leader of the metal fabrication department of the William J. Hughes Technical Center, where he worked for 26 years. He loved working with his hands, learning new skills. If the weather fared, it was the sea he loved best, fishing and boating with family and friends.
Left to cherish his indomitable spirit are many family and friends: wife, Debra (McMahon); sons, Anthony, Jared, Joseph and Andrew; Aunt Dolly; sisters-in-law, Patsy Vena, Linda Macklin (John), Karen Martine (Peter) and Janet Kielbasa (Steve); nephews and nieces Ed McMahon (Jenna, Amelia, and Liam), Linda Karpolich (Adam and Holly), Amy Carolla(Jessie and Giulia), Cherie Bernick (Mike, Brianna and Joshua), Tim Martine (Francesca), Quinn, Cayleigh, Colin; extended FAA family; lifetime friends; and loyal canine, Oscar.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 8, at 5 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 8th and Wood streets, Vineland, with visitation preceding at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to his son's college fund may be made to Andrew V. Vena.

My deepest sympathies to the entire Vena family upon the passing if Jim. He was one of the first friends I made at Cunningham School, when I knew very few people there. He was a very good person, kind and gentle.
