Milmay - Robert P. "Bob" Ponchot, Sr. returned to his creator early Saturday morning, January 9, 2021, at home after a brief illness. Bob was born in Cincinnati, OH and was a longtime area resident. He was the son of the late May (Denny) & Delbert Ponchot.

Bob was a preacher of the Gospel for 58 yrs. and continued to preach up until just a few weeks before his death. During his many faithful years of ministry, he held ministries in Ohio, Virginia, started a church in Delaware, and helped to establish 4 churches in New Jersey. His most recent ministry was the Christian Church of Egg Harbor Twp. Bob was a prolific singer and song writer, composing 88 Christian songs. He and his family recorded 9 CD's. His signature song that he wrote was "God Still Cares", which was recorded by the Gospel singing group, The Inspirations. He was privileged to lead the singing for the National Men's Prayer Clinic in Grundy, VA for 31 yrs. He had a heart for people and a real passion for God and spreading the Gospel. He held hundreds of revivals, performed countless concerts and shared Jesus everywhere he went. Bob was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1960-1962. He left high school and later returned to complete his education, graduating from Withrow High School in the Class of 1958, where he served as the class president at the age of 21. He was an avid sports fan and loved to play golf. He was a singer/actor and former president with the Singing Ambassadors. His only regret in his final weeks was that he was unable to tell someone about Jesus.

Bob is survived by his wife of 61 yrs, Karen (Dills) Ponchot, Daughters: Rebecca & Joseph Rash, Smyrna, DE, Mary & Al Pino, Millville, NJ, Son: Robert "Paul" & Ronda Ponchot, Mays Landing, NJ, Grandchildren: Corey Neher, Jillian Ponchot, Brittany Pino, Kirstyn (Kyle) Messick, Christopher (Grace) Ponchot, Kayla Ponchot, Adam Pino, 1 great granddaughter: Susan Praise Ponchot, Brother: Jim & Mary Lou Ponchot, Cincinnati, OH, Sisters: Wanda Williams & Judy Brusman, both of Cincinnati, OH as well as many nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents and 7 siblings, he was proceeded in death by his grandson, Joshua Neher.

His funeral service will be conducted at 7 PM on Thursday, January 14, at the Cumberland County Christian Church, 3141 Dante Ave., Vineland, NJ, 08361, where friends will be received after 6 PM. A private family burial service will be in the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor, NJ. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to S.J. Evangelism, P.O.
