Samuel Paul Hayes, 86, of Millville died Tuesday morning, June 12, 2012. at his residence. He had been in declining health for the past two years.
Born and raised in Coke County, Tenn., he grew up working on his family's farm until he moved to Bridgeton in 1942. While in Bridgeton, he worked for Seabrook Farms. Mr. Hayes then moved to Millville and worked for Armstrong Cork Co. and Kerr Glass Co. as a glass worker until he retired on a disability.
Mr. Hayes was a member of the GBBA. He enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling on the television, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Hayes is survived by his children, Minnie Everheart and husband Ronnie of Strawplain, Tenn., Sama Ann Watson and husband Paul of Millville, Virginia Drake and husband Garrett of Bridgeton, Mary Irfan-Ali and husband Zulfiqar of Millville, Brenda Hayes and fiancé Roy Roberts of Millville, Porter Hayes of Millville, Horace Hayes of Bridgeton, and Hardy Hayes and fiancée Debbie of Vineland; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anna Mae (Lewis) in 1982; his parents, Horace and Minnie (Crumbly) Hayes; one brother, Joe Hayes; and one sister, Emma Jean Hammerstone.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad St., Millville. There will be a viewing on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville.
