John Scholtens Obituary

John Scholtens passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2025 at his home. He was proceeded in death by his brother, Rick and his mom and dad Carolyn and Robert. He left behind his wife of 44 years Theresa, his daughter Monica (Jeremy) Mabe and his three granddaughters, Lilly, Charlie and Evie. In addition to his brother Joe (Pam) Scholtens, his sister Brenda (Bob) DeHollander, and brother Dan (Jackie) Scholtens.
John was a retired Corrections Officer, and had enjoyed retirement for almost 15 years. In that time, he found his true calling as a Grandpa AKA Papa. He loved spending time with his wife, daughter, and grandkids. One of his favorite things to do is pick us all up and get a "pop." He was also an avid Detroit Tiger fan.

John never officially became Catholic, but he faithfully attended St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for over 20 years. To quote one of John's favorite Christmas songs: "Hallelujah Noel be it Heaven or Hell the Christmas we get we deserve." Emerson Lake and Palmer.
