Gerald Julian Obituary

Gerald E. Julian, 89, of Coldwater, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
Gerald was born February 6, 1928 in Grand Rapids, MI to Paul Raymond Julian & Dorothy Helena O'Brien. He was a patient for much of his life at the Coldwater State Home and Training School. For over 30 years he worked for the Kemp family doing domestic and yard work. For a short time, he worked in housekeeping at the Community Health Center.
Mr. Julian was a dedicated member of the Coldwater Baptist Church. In addition to loving his Lord and old hymns he especially loved to collect yoyo's, watches and clocks. He laughingly referred to his hobby as junkin' & a'clunkin'. Gerald loved to visit downtown Coldwater with his good friend Byrd Mackie. Together they became friends with many of the local merchants, especially those at Jeannie's Diner (Irma's) and Taylor's Stationers. The pair was often affectionately referred to as "Bert & Ernie." Gerald is survived by his special friends who loved him dearly, Carolyn (Kemp) & Ed Smith of Franklin, TN, Jim & Peggy Voss, Pastor Terry & Deborah Tomlinson and Paul & Linda Lindner all of Coldwater. He was preceded in death by his good friend Byrd Mackie.
A graveside service and burial of ashes will take place in the spring at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.Memorials may be directed to Maple Lawn or the Coldwater Baptist Church.
