Raymond Henderson Obituary
was born March 3, 1937, to Ola Lee Jones and Raymond Henderson Sr.
He attended Hall High School where he played football and was a proud Blue Devil.
He was honorably discharged on January 8,1962, from the US Armed Services where he served in the Air Force. Afterwards he worked at McGhee Tyson Airport before joining the Alcoa Police Department on June 21,1967, where he worked until May 30,1980. Elder Henderson was ordained on August 4, 1991, at Saint Peter Primitive Baptist under the Pastorate of the late Elder A. Charles Dixson. Raymond was bigger than life and he lived that way. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, and coaching the Baby Blue Devil grasshopper football team and his grandson Michael's T-ball team. He was loved by many and was greeted with many terms of endearment to include Bulleye, Coach, Uncle Raymond, or simply Unc... but his two favorites were PaPa and Poppy!
He was preceded in death by mother, Ola Lee Nichols; stepfather, William Nichols;
father, Raymond Henderson, Sr.; sisters, Rose Blair and Carolyn Smithers; brothers, Jerry and Kenneth Henderson; grandson, Malik Henderson.
Living legacies include mother of children, Julia L. Henderson; children, Stephon, Kimberly, and Terrance Henderson; daughters-in-love: Jacquelyn Hill-Henderson, Sequanda Henderson, and Tanya Bender-Henderson; grandchildren, Justin Bender (Mary Rita), Jasmin E.H. Hunter (Darryl), Stephen O. Henderson (Franqueill), Michael Henderson Kelley (Kimberlee), Madisen A. Ashley, and Sanaa S. Henderson; great-grandchildren: Samiya Seabron-Henderson, Adrian Kelley, Aiden Henderson, Lena Bender, and Killian Kaneao; brother, Herbert Henderson;
spiritual sons, Tommie Kelley and Arthur Tyson, Jr.; devoted friends and caregivers,
Billy Webb, Misty Harvey, Ms. Dollie Franklin, Robert Powell, and Steve and Laura Treese, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will honor Raymond on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at House of God, 160 Badgett St., Alcoa, TN 37701, with a visitation from 2:00pm to 3:00pm and a Funeral Service to follow at 3:00pm, a Committal Service will be on Monday, January 2, 2022 11:00am at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, 3176 Airport Highway, Alcoa, TN 37701, Pastor Paulette Pace to officiate the services.
