Alan Jonason Obituary
Alan faithfully served both his country and community as a police officer in East Lyme. He served in the U.S. Navy as a submariner, and then went on to fight in the Vietnam War as part of the Seabees.
He is survived by his sons, Brian Jonason of Niantic, and Alan S. Jonason Jr. of Pittsford, N.Y.; his grandchildren: Joshua, Ayden, Emily Benjamin; and his former wife Laurel Jonason.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, July 14, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand Street, Niantic. Military honors will be rendered at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Please visit www.neilanfuneralhome.com to leave the family an online condolence.

Dear Jonason family
I remember Alan very well . I first me Alan at EB , and from time to time I would weld different jobs for him on first shift . Then Alan went to Foxwoods and we ran into each other again . Alan in Security and I was in the cleaning dept . Different times Alan was in my Casino C-3 , and often he worked next to the section I cleaned . There was a phone next to where Alan worked so once in a while he would get on the phone and pretended to be a Chinese patron who was lost and confused looking for help . Alan did the Chinese patron to perfection actually making the person on the other end of the phone believe him , I couldn't stop laughing !
Alan told me he made walking canes for people and gave me a printed card of his business . I wish i had bought one of his walking canes when i had the chance .
Alan was just one of those people you meet and like them as a friend right away . My very deepest condolences to Alan's whole family at this time . God bless .
