He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on June 25, 1930.
Al served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years and was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He worked for General Dynamics Electric Boat Division in Groton for 30 years and retired as chief of marine design. Al was a 32 degree Mason and was a member and Past Master of the Somerset Lodge #34 in Norwich.
He and his wife moved to Ocala from Preston, nine years ago. Al was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Ocala and of the Preston City Congregational Church.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Florence (Parkhurst) Alletto of Ocala; sons, Raymond J. Alletto and his wife, Nancy, of Dallas, Tex., Wayne R. Alletto and his wife, Suzanne, of Lisbon, Alfred W. Alletto of Norwich, and Robert A. Alletto of Griswold; brothers, Vincent Alletto of New Orleans, La., and Frank Arno of Encino, Calif.; sisters, Gloria Decandia of Ocala and Ann Paparazzi of Inverness, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at the Preston City Congregational Church, Rt. 164, Preston City, with Rev. Stan White officiating.
Memorials may be made to Preston City Congregational Church Scholarship Fund.

My family had the pleasure of spending a holiday meal with Al Alletto on two different occasions at Ray & Nancy's house. Al had a wonderful sense of humor and we will always remember him fondly.
