Alice Fragola Obituary

Chester - Alice Fragola, 99, passed away peacefully at Aaron Manor in Chester, on Sept. 4, 2014. Alice was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

She was born on Oct. 24, 1914, in New Haven, the daughter of George and Ida Ferrie.

On Sept. 20, 1941, she married Ralph Fragola.

In 1956, they moved from West Haven to Quaker Hill. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Uncasville, and participated in many church activities. Alice's deep faith was a comfort to her throughout her life and an inspiration to others. She was particularly devoted to Mary and enjoyed saying her rosary daily. Alice loved to sew and crochet and was fond of traveling. She and Ralph took many Caribbean cruises together, as well as vacations to Italy, Palm Springs, Disneyland, and Las Vegas. She was also passionate about baseball and a lifelong New York Yankees fan.

Her family appreciates the professional and heartfelt care she received from everyone at Aaron Manor. They also will always be grateful to the dedicated and loving care Alice received from her personal caregiver, Diane Marcolini. Diane's husband, Ed, was also a source of joy to Alice during his frequent visits.

Alice was predeceased by Ralph Fragola, her husband of 72 years, who passed away on June 19, 2014. She was also predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her sister, Grace Gizzi of North Haven; her daughter, Geraldine Bell and her son-in-law, David Bell, of Old Lyme, and her beloved granddaughter, Megan Bell of Oakland, Calif.; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Sept. 9, at St. John the Evangelist Church in Uncasville, followed by a burial service at St. Mary's Cemetery in New London.
