Groton - Alice Leota Maynard Lewis Richter, 85, of Groton passed away on Tuesday May 30, 2017, at Fairview.
She was born October 28, 1931, in New London, a daughter of the late Ernest A. and Dorothy Aberg Maynard.
Alice grew up swimming and sailing in the Thames River. She founded the Gales Ferry Marina with her former husband, James Lewis, of Gales Ferry.
She was truly lovely inside as out, generous, and always found the good in everyone, just as her mother had. Counselor to any child needing a loving ear, registered nurse, 4-H leader, diet center counselor.
Alice enjoyed a good time and loved giving a good party.
Her survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Elizabeth "Dee" Lewis of Gales Ferry; a son, James Lewis, Jr, and his husband Stewart of Syracuse, NY; her sister, Delma Lewis of Waterford; brother, Alton Maynard of Ledyard; one granddaughter, Rebecca Soleyn, her husband Felix; and a great-grandson, Lincoln Soleyn all of Gales Ferry.
Alice had also been predeceased by her second husband, Fred Richter.
Her family will be having a private celebration of her life.
