Amelia Szabo Obituary

Niantic - Amelia V. Szabo, 89, of Roxbury Road, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London.

Mrs. Szabo was born on Feb. 12, 1916 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Knezevic Banoff.

Mrs. Szabo is survived by her daughter Amelia and her husband, Terence Collins, of Niantic; her son Stephen Szabo of Delco, N.C.; her seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Collins of Littleton, Mass., Patrick Collins of Niantic, Cathleen and her husband Joseph McQuade of Florida, Michael and his wife Melissa Collins of Pennsylvania, Eileen and her husband David Swetnam of Florida, Christopher and his wife Cheryl Collins of California, and Amy and her husband James Byrd of North Carolina; nine great-grandchildren, Hannah and Rachel Swetnam, Madeleine, Connor, and Isabella McQuade, Emily and Andrew Collins, and Elisabeth and Michael Byrd, and tenth great-grandchild expected in June.

She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen J. Szabo; her brother, Andrew Banoff; and her step-mother, Johanna Banoff.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Lake Ave, Niantic. Friends may visit at 1 p.m. before the service on Saturday. A service to celebrate her life will be held in Ohio later this summer.

Donations may be made in her memory to St. Peter Church, Altar and Rosary Society, 501 Washington St., Conneautville, PA 16406.
