Assunta Orkney Obituary
She was born Aug. 15, 1907, in New London, the daughter of the late Francesco and Carmela (Cappola) Ruggiero. She was the beloved wife of the late John Orkney. Mrs. Orkney was employed as a supervisor for Max Pollack Thread Mill in Groton for many years.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was the last of seven children, being predeceased by six siblings, Salvatore, Anthony and Louis Ruggiero, Frank Rose, Anna Jessuck and Angelina Ruggiero.
A funeral home service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
