Bart Calobrisi Obituary

Stonington - Dr. Bart Calobrisi, musician, fisherman, and physician of Stonington, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011. He was 52. Bart was the son of Jennie and the late Cosmo Calobrisi of Methuen, Mass.

Bart had a golden voice and a profound love of music. He shared and celebrated this gift with his two beautiful and talented daughters, Amanda and Emily. Happiest at the beach with family and friends, Bart loved the sunshine and was passionate about boating, diving, and fishing on the Connecticut shoreline.

A well respected anesthesiologist at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for two decades, Bart received his degrees from Tufts University and the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Bart leaves behind his loving wife of 21 years, Lori; his daughters, Amanda and Emily; his brother, John Calobrisi; his niece and nephew, Jamie and Jason; and brother, Cosmo Calobrisi.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his sister, Brenda Calobrisi.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, at St. Patrick Church, East Main St., Mystic. Guests are asked to meet directly at church. There are no visiting hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dr. Bart Calobrisi Music Scholarship, established in his honor at Stonington High School, 176 South Broad St., Pawcatuck CT 06379.

Bart was one of my closet friends in high school. Thought we lost touch, I never forgot his dyanmic mind and positive energy. I am so sorry for your loss at this far too young age.

I was truly saddened to hear of Bart's passing. As an Ob-Gyn at L&M Hospital, I worked closely with Bart for many years. There was not a finer, kinder, more caring, professional, courteous, friendly, intelligent physician there than Bart. He will be sorely missed by all of us. My heart goes out to Bart's family, and my prayers are with you.

I was deeply saddened to hear that Bart has passed away. We were very good friends in high school, but lost touch many years ago. Everyone who knew Bart in Methuen knew he would do great things in life. He was intelligent, creative and marched to his own drum. Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss.

My deepest sorrow is shared with your family at this time.
I worked with Bart in the OR and LDRP at L&M for many years and have dearly missed the "family" there since moving to FL in 2006. He introduced me to some great Jazz and mentored my love of The Rippingtons, among so many others. His ease and skill in the OR was a blessing, and his presence will surely be missed.
I will pray for you and your family during these days to come. May you find the peace and love of God to sustain you.

We also buried my 44 yr old brother Mark Torres this morning. We grew up 2 doors down from Bart in Methuen, MA. I knew him when we were young. I remember him leaving for Woodstock in 1969. They both died too early, but lived great lives. Now, they are in heaven with their dads.
Cosmo, John, Jennie, be strong for his wife and kids. All we can do is be strong.

To the Calobrisi family...With a full heart of sorry...we send you our love and support at this most difficult time in your lives. And whoever put together is obituary was a genius and I'm sure reflected not only Bart...but as well...your families integrity.

Next time you look up at the sky at night...consider this ol'Eskimo proverb...

“Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.”

God Bless you all!
