Brendan Johnston Obituary

Mansfield Center - Brendan Barrett Johnston, of Mansfield Center, born June 21, 1975 in Norwich, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.

Brendan graduated from East Catholic High School in Manchester, and Eastern Connecticut State University. He was an employee of Cigna Healthcare in their marketing division.

Brendan was an avid music enthusiast and accomplished drummer. He performed at such venues as The Webster Theatre, Toads Place, and The Lion's Den in New York City. Brendan enjoyed traveling to pursue his interests, and in doing so, made friends all over the world.

Brendan was a loving and caring father, husband, son, brother and friend. The one word that people have used time and again to describe Brendan is loyal. He had great perseverance and determination to set and complete goals and to make those around him happy and feel good about life.

He is survived by his wife, Amber Johnston; and two daughters, Ella and Tess of Mansfield Center; his brother, Kevin Johnston of Charlestown, R.I.; and father, Bob Johnston of Columbia. He is also survived by an extensive group of family that are friends, and friends that are family.

He was predeceased by his mother, Linda (Redding) Johnston.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195), Willimantic. A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 7, at St. Mark's Episcopal Chapel, 42 North Eagleville Road, Storrs, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested and may be sent to The Ella and Tess Johnston Scholarship Fund, c/o Liberty Bank, 314 Flanders Road, East Lyme, CT 06333. Donations may also be brought to any local Liberty Bank branch.

I never met Brendan in person but worked with him frequently on web events. He was such a pleasure to work with, the world is definitely a better place for having had him in it. So sorry for your loss.

Brendan was a devoted father and husband and a wonderful Son in Law, the world is a lesser place for his passing.
Rest in Peace sweet Prince.

To Brendan's Family: I am so saddened by the loss of your Brendan. I worked with him at BBP and he was truly one of the nicest young men I've ever met. Your hearts must be broken at this difficult time. I will remember you in my prayers.
