C. Bigelow Obituary

Montville - C. Alan Bigelow of Williams Road, Oakdale, passed away March 6, 2014, at his home with his family by his side.

Alan was born July 25, 1934, in Colchester, Vt., the son of the late Charles and Harriett (Loring) Bigelow.

He married Kay Dawn (Gaylord) April 18, 1954, in East Brookfield, Vt. She survives him.

He served in the U.S. Navy for 30 years and retired as a chief petty officer.

Alan had a love for music and especially loved playing the drums. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He also loved to hunt and fish.

In addition to his wife, Kay, he is survived by his children, Steven A. Bigelow and wife, Maria, Cristi Biddlecome, Terry Tatum and husband, Charles, P. Jay Bigelow and wife, Jean; a brother, Bruce Bigelow and wife, Nirav, and their son, Vivic; grandchildren, Jamie, Shelby, Danny, Joel, Giana, Aimee, Nicolette, Shelly, Angela, Chad, and Kim; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son-in-law, Jesse Biddlecome.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Montville Union Baptist Church. Burial will be private and the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360 or to the Montville Union Baptist Church, 279 Route 163, Montville, CT 06353.
