Cheryl Ann Williams

1958 - 2024

Groton - Cheryl Ann (Perkins) Williams of Groton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Thursday, June 20, 2024. She was born Nov. 26, 1958, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, the eldest daughter of James and Joan (Meagher) Perkins.

Cheryl grew up in Niantic, and attended the East Lyme School system graduating from East Lyme High School in 1976. She worked as a manager of McDonalds where she met the love of her life, Ronald Williams. Cheryl and Ronald were married Feb. 22, 1986. They had two boys together.

In her life she had an extreme love of frogs, hummingbirds and the color green. Cheryl loved watching her three boys play baseball and would never miss a game. She will always be remembered as a second mother to so many including her sisters' children and her sons' friends, who regularly would call her "mom." The majority of her adult life was spent devoting herself to caring for others whether it was family, friends or neighbors; she always put everyone's needs above her own. Above all, she would want to be remembered as Mom to Bobby, Ronnie and Kenny who, even well into adulthood with children of their own, would still call or come to her just to chat almost daily.

She was predeceased by her father James Perkins; and her niece Melissa Ann Robinson. Cheryl is survived by her husband Ronald Williams; sons, Robert Conigliaro and wife Wendy of Waterford, Ronald Williams Jr. and wife Caitlin of Waterford, and Kenneth Williams and wife Heather of Groton; five grandchildren: Kelsey, Aiden, Jackson, Avery and Oliver; as well as her mother Joan; three sisters, Teri, Shelly and Sandra; one brother, James; a half-brother Merrill; and multiple nieces and nephews whom she adored.

The family will receive friends and family from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, at the Neilan Funeral Home, 48 Grand Street, Niantic. Burial will be private.
