Christine McGugan Obituary
She was born April 3, 1967, in Manchester, where she spent her early childhood, and then later Concord, Mass., with summers at Groton Long Point. She graduated from Wilbraham and Monson Academy and received her bachelor's degree in art history from Roanoke College, where she made many lifelong friends. After college, Christine settled in Mystic where she met the love of her life, Christian Morgan McGugan. She worked for many years in marketing for the Mystic Seaport, and most recently, as a realtor for Randall Realtors and as an associate for Financial Security Group, her father's financial planning firm.
Christine was a devoted wife for 21 years to Christian, and loving mother to three wonderful daughters, Anna Marguerite, 18, Georgia Katherine, 16 and Charlotte Conti, 11. Her most precious time was spent with her family, with boat picnics to Napatree and West Harbor, beach days at Groton Long Point, and special trips to Block Island, Maine, Vermont, Bahamas, and the BVI. She had a passion for participating in her daughter's activities, making costumes for high school plays, attending sporting events, and supporting their interests. Her family was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.
Christine and her husband were fitness enthusiasts, enjoying running, biking, and classes at the Stonington YMCA.
Christine is also survived by her parents, Fred and Ann Conti; and in-laws, George (Sandy) and Marguerite McGugan; and her siblings, Laura Conti, Timothy Conti and his wife, Mary, and Kate Kling and her husband, Chris. Additionally, she will be missed by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law, and dear friends. Christine's love touched many and she will be forever loved and remembered for her kindness and concern for everyone.
Christine's family are members of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Mystic. Due to the anticipated attendance of her service, a celebration of life will be held at Ender's Island (www.endersisland.com for directions) at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, with the Rev. Adam Thomas, Rector, of St. Mark's officiating. The family requests that guests bring their favorite photograph to help celebrate Christine's life.
Those wishing to send a floral tribute, may do so, to the Mystic Funeral Home on Route 1 or donations may be sent to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (www.nami.org.).

May Chris's glorious spirit she exuded here on earth bring comfort and solace to all who mourn her. I miss her so much that my heart physically hurts. I will cherish our talks in her kitchen over a cup of tea and always delicious homemade vegetarian soup. The conversations usually ended up talking about our kids. She adored her children and did everything for them. Of course I never left without one of us complementing the other on clothes, boots or jewelry; she just loved fashion. She had a very special way of making you feel completely at home and I felt I could tell her anything. I think I will miss her laugh and hugs the most. In 25 years she never missed my birthday no matter how busy our lives got. She was a giver and always made time for others. I love you Chris! May peace be with you.
