Christopher Hallahan Obituary

Westbrook - Christopher Francis Hallahan passed away tragically in an accident Sept. 2, 2024, at the young age of 34. Born in New Haven, Jan. 22, 1990, to Christopher J. Hallahan and Cheryleen M. Calkins. Christopher graduated from Westbrook High School in 2008. On Aug. 20, 2021, he married the love of his life, Brittney L. Hallahan (Tomczak). They resided in his hometown of Westbrook, with their dog, Kobe.

As a lifelong resident of Westbrook, Chris worked alongside his father in the family's construction business, known as Christopher J. Hallahan, Inc. He also owned and operated Coastal Construction Services, LLC, out of Westbrook and Westerly, R.I. He was extremely passionate about his work, building strong client relationships, and aiming toward success in the local construction industry. Aside from business, he was a member of the Town of Westbrook Community Center Committee, and he joined the CT Flyers, a flying club based at Chester Airport.

Chris dedicated his life to his wife and family, his career "family", and abundant friends. He had many hobbies, sometimes stating jokingly, "too many to keep up with". Those interests included boating, fishing, hunting, dirt biking, biking of all kinds, golfing, traveling with his wife, and, after receiving his pilot's license, flying. He was an avid Jimmy Buffet fan, listening to his island music every moment he could. His ability to light up a room with his presence was widely admired. Those, who spent time with him, experienced his contagious laughter, jokes, smirks, and smiles.

Christopher loved his wife Brittney immensely. These two; they were dreamers. As the love of his life, they were inseparable from the start. Together they took on many adventures from traveling to new places, to fishing, hiking, remodeling a home, taking on a new business together, and finding beautiful blue water to sit by. Their support and love of each other was palpable, and something any couple could learn from. As you read this, please hold space for their dreams that were yet to come.

Christopher is survived by his wife, Brittney; mother Cheryleen M. Calkins; and father Christopher F. Hallahan (Nancy). He is also survived by his brother, Cory (Mallory); sister Cydney (Matthew); father and mother-in-law John and Lisa Tomczak; and brother-in-law John Tomczak Jr. (Lauren). Additionally, there remain many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as a large extended family. He was predeceased by grandparents, Dennis and Jean Hallahan, Elaine and Jerry Peyton, Philip "Skip" Calkins, and Frank Spreda Sr. The Hallahan Tribe has always been a huge part of Christopher's life, not only making an endless impression on Chris, but all that have met them. Christopher was always surrounded by his many friends, becoming a second "family" to him over time.

Visitation will occur from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Saint Mark the Evangelist Church, 222 McVeagh Road, Westbrook. Private burial will follow at Cypress Cemetery in Westbrook, for immediate family only.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made at the following link: www.gofundme.com/hal-lighttheway. Contributions may also be made by check to Brittney Hallahan in care of Hal Light the Way. Checks can be donated at the services or mailed to P.O Box 863 Westbrook, CT 06498. These contributions will not only help with memorial costs, but will also help to eventually pay for the funding to properly light up the Connecticut River breakwater.
