To the Durham Family: Having had the pleasure to know and work with Mike for many years I have had the privilege to come to know and learn much about the wonderful Durham family. Mike speaks so lovingly of his brother David and his family. Because of this deep love and devotion we know how and why David's untimely passing is felt so deeply. Yet the spirit, strength and love of the Durham family will prevail and David's spirit, life and essence will always be cherished and will live on. The Russo family extends its prayers and support at this difficult time. May we all live in God's glory and be reunited again. With deepest sympathy and love, John Jr., Matilda, Andrew and Addie Russo.

Dear Durham Family,

I had the pleasure of first meeting David when I was working with his younger brother Mike. On occasion we had a chance to talk about our families and I learned from David how proud he was of his three sons. David talked about Thomas and of his attending graduate school and of his strength and courage. He told me of Matthew's commitment to education and humanitarian efforts in New Orleans for Teach America. I also know David tried to attend as many of Mark's high school sports events as possible and his pride when Mark started college in Boston just a few months ago. I had a feeling that, like most parents, David may not have told his sons his feelings and I hope this message brings each of them some comfort at this sad time.

David knew that I had a challenging relationship with my younger sister Donna who has a rare disease. He gently told me to strive for greater tolerance and patience especially since I had realized successes my sister would not be able to achieve in her lifetime. David's wise words helped me enormously and I will be forever grateful for his insight. David was a special person whose generosity, laughter and kindness will be missed by all. At this most difficult time I extend heartfelt sympathy to his three beloved sons, David's parents, his younger brother Mike - one can only imagine the fun you had in your earlier years together and to the entire Durham family.

Please forgive me if my earlier entry was sent. I am not quite as savvy with these computer messages as I would like to be.
