Dear Lewis Family,
For a little over a year now either my husband or myself have taken my two and four year old to your farm (from the side of the road) to see your moo moo's (cows) - almost everyday! Everyday their little voices ask me to go see them...they notice everything...even when you move certain ones to different pastures. They even know some of them by name from their tags and ask for them specificially! (Judy is a huge hit) It is truely a highlight of their day!
Though we don't know eachother, I too am saddened by your loss.
I wanted to let you know how much your family means to our community and most of all my family and that your family has touched more people than you know.
Deepest condolences,
The Falcone Family

Hummer was a huge part of my life growing up in North Stonington. His court savvy on the basketball court, his willingness to lend a hand, his sense of humor and quick smile, along with much, much more will always be remembered. I learned a lot from my friend Hummer and feel honored to have had him in my life. I think we all know that Hummer together with his dad are once again starting to stir thing up a bit. My prayers and thoughts go out to the whole Lewis Family – God bless you.

To know the pain of losing a son, brother, husband , father, a friend is i think the hardest thing in the world...but to lose someone as special as Hummer is a heart breaker..I pass on my deepest heart felt condolences to all his family...The memories of being in school with hum I smile at all the time..he made me feel more like 1 of the guys then alot of other people...Memories of listening to mom, after she came back from getting milk at the farm, talking about hummer and what he had to show her there..from new calves to the oxen to new tractors...he ALWAYS took the time to talk to people no matter who they were..to me that meant more to me then anything else..his honesty and friendship...he will be so sadly missed...

Rosilind,
We were saddend to read in the Day
of your Sons passing. Although we
did not know your Son, We can well understand the depth of your loss, as we too lost our Son Michal David.
We were close friends of Carolyn Winslow, and used to enjoy the fresh
Milk from your farm. No expression of sympathy, however deeply felt, can help much right now. But we wanted you to know our thoughts are
with you.
Sincerely
Lynn and Matt. Morse

For Hummer's friends and family:
I am so saddened to hear of Hummer's death.
Soon after I heard the news, I remembered a cold snowy winter night, long ago in the fields of "Anthony Hill." Hummer and Karen Goggin were wrestling in a dispute about using a runner sled on a toboggan track. Immediately, I sent up a little prayer to give God a "heads up" now that they both will grace the heavens with their presense.
No matter how far away from home I travel, the Lewis family will always be in my heart, as part of my original family.
My wish for you is that, someday soon, the memories you have serve to comfort you and that peace makes its home in your hearts.
With Love,
Thomas J. Leiper III

YOU ALL HAVE BEEN IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS FOR YEARS AND WE PRAY THAT KNOWING SO MANY FOLKS TRULY CARE WILL BE OF SOME COMFORT TO YOU.
WE WERE FORTUNATE TO LIVE NEAR THE LEWIS FARM UNTIL 1978, AND WE HAVE VIVID MEMORIES OF ALL OF THE LEWIS FAMILY AND THE GOOD TIMES WE SHARED.
MY FIRST RECOLLECTION OF "HUMMER" AS A LITTLE BOY WAS HIM STANDING NEAR THE BARN WITH A PAIR OF BOOTS ON THAT WERE ALMOST AS BIG AS HE WAS AND THEY WERE MOSTLY COVERED IN COW MANURE...HE HAD THIS BIG GRIN ON HIS FACE THAT TOLD US HE WAS HAPPY TO BE WHERE HE WAS AND WITH WHAT HE WAS DOING.
WE ARE THANKFUL HE HAS BEEN ABLE TO BE ON THE "FARM" FOR THE BETTER PART OF HIS LIFE.
AFTER ALL OF HIS SUFFERING, MAY HE REST IN PEACE. MAY THE LORD GIVE HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS THE STRENGTH TO GET THROUGH THIS SAD JOURNEY AHEAD OF THEM WITHOUT HUMMER AT THEIR SIDE AND GIVE THEM COMFORT.
PRECIOUS MEMORIES WILL LIVE FOREVER FOR EVERYONE WHO KNEW "HUMMER", I KNOW THERE ARE MANY, MANY GREAT MEMORIES OUT THERE.
LOVE & PRAYERS, YOUR OLD NEIGHBORS AND FOREVER FRIENDS, GEORGE AND SALLY SWAIN

Hummer,
I can still see you on the basketball court at Wheeler, at the NS Fair, and with your family at the Deerfield NH Fair in the barn about 3 years ago. I've met people all over the US who knew you! You never admitted defeat and always had a smile and a "one liner". The world has lost a very sincere, caring person. May Peace and Love be with your family at this time. Jennie (Colin's sister)
