Donald Cleary Obituary
He was born March 11, 1934, in Waterbury, the son of the late Simon and Freida Cleary. Donald honorably served in the U.S. Navy for 26 years, including one year of service in the Vietnam War. He retired with the rank of commander.
He was predeceased by his wife, Charlene (Sullenberger) Cleary. He was also predeceased by two daughters, Pamela Plummer and Patricia Miner.
Commander Cleary is survived by his sons, Donald S. Cleary and his wife, Patricia, of Harmony, Fla., Thomas W. Cleary and his wife, Deb, of Simi Valley, Calif. and Michael K. Cleary and his wife, Barbara, of Sarasota, Fla.; a daughter, Kathleen Cleary and her fiancee, Mark Green, of Atlanta, Ga.; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral services are private and in the care of the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic.
