Douglas M. "Doug" Fox

1940 - 2017

Trumbull - Douglas M. Fox of Trumbull died peacefully at home on Feb. 28, 2017.

A professor of public administration, author of six books, and public management consultant, Dr. Fox received his bachelor's degree from Yale University in 1962 and his doctorate from Columbia University in 1968. He taught college classes for 35 years and was a member of the faculty at Western Connecticut State University from 1979 until his retirement in 2001. Doug Fox was host of WMNR-FM's 'Evening at the Opera' program since 1983. He was passionate about opera and enjoyed his many conversations with listeners over these past years.

Doug was born in New London on May 2, 1940, the son of Margaret Knott Fox and Wilson Ward Fox. He is survived by his wife, Diana Fox, of Trumbull; his daughter, Marcia Sellner, and grandchildren, Zachary and Jordan Sellner, of Danbury; his brother, Michael Fox, of Seattle, Wash.; his sister, Lyell Fox, of Sequim, Wash.; his nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, his son, Jeffrey Fox, and his nephew, Brendan Fox.

A memorial service to celebrate Doug's life and share memories will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Recordings of operatic music will be played, and listeners of his program and all opera lovers will be invited. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that those who wish to do so, contribute to WMNR Fine Arts Radio or a charity of their choice.
