In 1995, he came out of retirement after being elected Old Lyme's First Selectman. He served one term before moving to South Carolina in October of 1998. While raising his family in Meriden, he was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church.

On behalf of President/Chief Administrator David Eustis and the entire Northwest Catholic High School community, I offer my deepest sympathy on the passing of Edmund O'Brien.

Because his grandchildren, NWC Girls' Basketball Coach Sean O'Brien '02 and NWC JV Girls' Basketball Coach Quinn O'Brien '04, are cherished members of our school family, we feel that Edmund was, too, and we mourn his death along with all those who love him.

Please know that we are holding everyone in the O'Brien family very close to our hearts this week, and that we will include Edmund on the prayer list at our next school-wide Mass. We are very sorry for your loss.
