New London - Emily Barbara (Zdabosz) Mish, 101, of New London, passed away Jan. 3, 2024. She was born July 21, 1922, in Fall River, Mass., to the late Anthony and Anna (Hertel) Zdabosz.

In addition to her parents, Emily was predeceased by her husband, Louis J. Mish; along with three brothers; and four sisters; and two infant great-grandsons, twin brothers Jax and Julian Hermanson. She is survived by her son Robert Mish, of New London; and three daughters, Barbara Gaslevich (Anthony) of Oakdale, Pa., Elizabeth Williams (Roger) of Waterford, and Mary Lou Hermanson (William) of East Lyme. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Anthony Gaslevich III (Kimberly), Andrew Gaslevich (Cara), Emily Kenyon (Joseph), Dana Novak (Christopher) and Eric Hermanson (Erika). She also leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren: Katherine and Andrew Gaslevich, Elena and Anthony Gaslevich, Alina, Maya, Lola, and Colton Kenyon, Christopher and Anna Novak, and Jade Hermanson.

Since the mid-1950s, Emily was a member of St. Joseph Church in New London where she was a daily communicant for decades. After raising her four children, Emily worked at the radio station WNLC and later at the Laborers' International Union Hall as a bookkeeper. She was also the favorite babysitter to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Emily's family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of the Hospice team members from Hartford Health Care at Home. Each and every caretaker was helpful, caring and loving. We can't name them all, but we wish to acknowledge in an even more special way nurses, Cat and Sara, along with our mom's longest and most faithfully serving aide, Margueritte. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The family would also like to thank Father Mark O'Donnell and Paula Jessuck from St. Joseph Church for their visits with Mom.

Dear Betty, Roger, Emily and Dana and family,
I am truly saddened to hear of Baci's passing !
Even though no one lives forever, it's still hard to lose a parent - may she rest eternally in peace and love ! Plant her favorite flowers, play her favorite song, may your memories be good ones to help you from feeling down , just like "nice pumpkins" still do EVERY Halloween!
Love,
Beth and Gary De Wolf
