Frieda Sargent Obituary

Naples, Fla. - Frieda L. Sargent, 94, of Naples, Fla., passed away on May 3, 2007 after a brief illness.

Born Frieda Lydia Kairott on July 2, 1912, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Frieda was the widow of H. Wesley Sargent. She was predeceased by her son, Hamilton W. Sargent.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Ryley of Mystic, her daughter-in-law Gail Sargent of Naples, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Frieda was a longtime resident of Broad Brook before moving to Florida in 1970. She and her husband founded the Broad Brook Insurance Agency in 1939 served the greater East Windsor area for over fifty years. While living in Broad Brook, she was active in the civic life of the community and the Broad Brook Congregational Church. Her special interests included the Broad Brook Library Association, Girl and Boy Scouts, and the youth organizations of the church.

She and her husband were members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and, using their 36-foot boat Vagabond, patrolled coastal waters from New Haven to Watch Hill, R.I., during World War II. They continued to be avid boaters, living aboard for many years in Florida and Connecticut after their retirement.
