George Robinson Obituary

Stonington - George Henry Robinson, 82, of Pequot Trail, Stonington died peacefully Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn (Johnson) Robinson.

Born in Westerly, R.I., New Year's Day 1940, he was the son of the late William and Dorothy (Zeller) Robinson.

George was saved at a Billy Graham crusade while a teen. He grew in this faith throughout his life. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church of North Stonington for over 60 years leading his family to know and love the Lord.

George graduated from Stonington High where he competed in track and field. He also earned his western cowboy hat Bull riding in the Ted Dawley Rodeo.

In 1964, he married Evelyn Johnson, the love of his life. Together they raised three children on their Pequot Meadow Farm in Stonington.

Although employed 35 years at Pfizer, his true passion was working the family farm raising beef cattle and growing hay. In his retirement, he often worked dawn to dusk improving the land.

George understood the value of hard work, his strength of character and ability to persevere enabled him to provide a wonderful life for his family. He maintained a sense of humor throughout. His favorite phrase was "Keep smiling".

Besides his loving and devoted wife he will be sadly missed by his three children, Wayne and his wife Suzanne, Cynthia and Clifford. He was the beloved grandfather of Dana, Katelyn, Travis, Breana, Jacob and Dylan and great-grandfather of Gabriella and Eliana. He also leaves his brother and sisters, James Robinson of Scottsboro, Ala., Dorothy Jessiman of Whiting, Maine and Virginia Miner of Eidson, Tenn. He was predeceased by his two brothers, William and Richard.

A celebration of life will take place at 11 a.m. April 23, 2022, at the Second Baptist Church, 12 Stillman, Road, North Stonington. Calling hours are respectfully omitted and burial was private at Union Cemetery North Stonington.

To the Robinson Families,

Sorry to see the loss of George. I remember him from grammar school when we rode Jim Shea´s school bus along Hinckley Hill Road. As I recall, we went as far as the Robinson homestead, turned around at the "Grange" and went to our destination, s school. George was a quiet guy, with a stately manner about him. May he Rest In Peace.

Aunt Evie, Wayne, Cindy, and Cliff... we're so sorry for your loss. I'm glad that I was able to come by and help and have dinner with you both not so long ago. I was last with him as we helped Aunt Dottie & Eddie pack out the old house.
I have many, many fond memories of vacations and haying with your family and many, many visits. Working on the house. All good memories of things that shaped my youth and helped make me who I am now. You are all in our thoughts and prayers and we know that Uncle George has moved on to a better place where he will be farming and getting things ready for when we're all back together again. God bless,
Jay & Karen
